HP Partners with Google for Chromebook Laptop Manufacturing in India

HP, a company known for manufacturing personal computers and laptops, has entered into a partnership with technology giant Google to produce Chromebook laptops in India. The production of Chromebooks will take place at HP’s factory located near Chennai in Tamil Nadu. This factory has been involved in manufacturing desktops and laptops for approximately three years.

Thanks to the Indian government’s “Make in India” campaign, American electronics makers like Apple and the South Korean firm Samsung are also expanding their manufacturing footprint in the nation. Many multinational technology firms are looking to partner with Indian firms or are considering opening up operations there. According to Vickram Bedi, Senior Director (Personal Systems) of HP India, “Students will have access to cheap PCs thanks to Chromebook manufacturing in India. We will keep assisting the government’s Make in India initiatives. Bani Dhawan, the head of Google’s education division for South Asia, stressed that “HP’s partnership in Chromebook manufacturing in India is a significant step in our endeavor to bring about major digital transformation in education.”

Samsung is preparing to increase its manufacturing footprint in India. The business has already begun making cellphones in the nation, and it will soon begin producing laptops in its factory in Greater Noida. The “Make in India” program, which offers incentives for electronic production, will benefit even more from this action on the part of the Indian government.
